Minnesota Whist is a popular variant of whist in Minnesota and South Dakota. It's a partnership game distinguished by the absence of trumps, adding a unique twist to traditional whist games.
The objective of Minnesota Whist varies based on the type of bid. In a "high bid" round, teams aim to capture seven or more of the thirteen tricks. Conversely, in a "low bid" round, the goal is to take six or fewer tricks.
Minnesota Whist offers a simple yet engaging partnership trick-taking card game, ideal for honing your card-playing skills. It encourages strategic thinking and teamwork, making it a perfect way to unwind and enjoy fast-paced gameplay.
Collaborate with your AI partner to outsmart your opponents in this exciting card game. Whist is an excellent introduction to trick-taking games, allowing you to enhance your skills and increase the difficulty level to hard when you're ready for a challenge.
To emerge victorious, you and your AI partner must outwit your opponents and be the first partnership to reach the win target, set at either 13 or seven.

Quickfire Rules:
After dealing the cards evenly among four players, each player bids either high (using a black card) or low (using a red card). Bid cards are revealed one by one, starting left of the dealer. The first black card turned over signifies a 'high' round, and the player who bid it is said to have 'granded.' No further cards are turned over after the first black card. If all bid cards are red, the game proceeds as a 'low' round.
In a high bid round, the player to the right of the one who granded leads the first trick. In a low bid round, the player to the left of the dealer starts. Players then play one card in turn, following suit if possible. If unable to follow suit, any other card can be played. The trick is won by the highest card matching the led suit. The winner of the previous trick leads the next.
At the round's end, points are calculated based on the tricks each partnership has won. In high bid rounds, the granding team earns a point for every trick over six. If they fail to reach seven tricks, the opposing team scores either one or two points per trick over six, depending on the 'set bonus' setting. In low bid rounds, teams score one point for each trick under seven.
