Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for cancer research.
The Prevent Cancer Foundation benefited from the Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, which concluded on January 13th. The event raised over $2.5 million, a figure exceeding the 2024 total by over $100,000. This significant contribution supports the foundation's mission of early cancer detection, prevention, research, and community outreach.
The annual winter marathon featured a diverse range of speedruns, showcasing titles like Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and numerous other games across various genres. The event, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a Pikmin (Switch) run by speedrunner Ray0ken.
Games Done Quick (GDQ), the organization behind AGDQ, also hosts Summer Games Done Quick (July) and several smaller events throughout the year. This includes a notable impromptu Disaster Relief Done Quick event in October 2024, raising over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.
A standout moment of AGDQ 2025 was a Crazy Taxi speedrun by Chuckles825, accompanied by a live band performing cover versions of the game's music to circumvent copyright restrictions. This creative run generated over $24,000 in donations. The event concluded with a thrilling four-player randomized race of Super Metroid on the SNES.
GDQ's next major event, Summer Games Done Quick 2025, is scheduled for July 6th in Minneapolis, benefiting Doctors Without Borders. The organization's continued commitment to charity fundraising through speedrunning is remarkable, with AGDQ 2025 adding to the over $26 million raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation over the years.
