A new trailer for the upcoming TV series Alien: Earth has surfaced online, providing fans with an enticing glimpse into the show's narrative and visual style. The trailer, which was initially showcased at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, was shared on the @CineGeekNews X/Twitter account, revealing a harrowing scene aboard a spaceship ravaged by a Xenomorph and heading towards Earth.
The trailer begins with a gripping scene inside a MU/TH/UR control room, strikingly reminiscent of the Nostromo from Ridley Scott's 1979 classic, Alien. A desperate crew member can be seen banging on a sealed door, pleading for help as the Xenomorph closes in. Meanwhile, Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, appears detached from the chaos, reporting that the "specimens are loose," declaring the crew dead, and setting the ship's course for Earth. The trailer then shifts to show a group of six soldiers approaching what appears to be the crashed ship, hinting at an ominous fate awaiting them.
This trailer raises numerous questions about the series' plot. Will Morrow survive? What drives his actions? Are there any other survivors, and could any of them be carrying a Xenomorph embryo? How will the soldiers meet their end? These queries set the stage for Alien: Earth, which follows a mysterious space vessel crash-landing on Earth. The story centers on a young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a group of tactical soldiers who stumble upon a discovery that pits them against the planet's most formidable threat.
Alien: Earth is set in the year 2120, fitting neatly into the broader Alien timeline between Prometheus and the original Alien. This placement has sparked speculation among fans that the series might explore the Nostromo's departure from Earth or how Weyland-Yutani Corporation first learned about the Xenomorphs. Notably, the recently released Alien: Romulus serves as an interquel between Alien and Aliens.
Showrunner Noah Hawley has previously shared his decision to steer away from the backstory established in Prometheus for Alien: Earth. In an interview last January, Hawley explained his preference for the "retro-futurism" of the original films. Despite consulting with Ridley Scott about various elements of the Alien series, Hawley chose to focus on the lore from the initial movies, distancing himself from the bioweapon narrative of the prequels.
Fans can look forward to Alien: Earth premiering on Hulu in the summer of 2025. Additionally, Alien: Romulus 2 is reportedly in development, promising more thrilling additions to the Alien franchise.
