Seth MacFarlane's American Dad is making its highly anticipated return to Fox, officially scheduled for a network revival in 2026 alongside fresh episodes of MacFarlane's other smash hit, Family Guy.
A Homecoming for Fox's Animated Favorites
This midseason return marks a full-circle moment for both series. Originally airing on Fox from 2005 to 2014 before moving to TBS (where American Dad remained until March this year), the shows' comeback reinforces Fox's commitment to maintaining competitive primetime programming.
"We're strengthening our leadership in key demographics and co-viewing this season with a 2025-26 schedule packed with the irreverent humor and entertainment audiences crave," said Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade in a statement to Variety. "Next year especially, we're delivering this promise through exceptional content across linear, Hulu, and additional platforms."
Fox's Expanded Digital Strategy
Fox is making strategic moves in digital distribution, recently announcing their new streaming platform Fox One. This service will integrate news, sports, and entertainment content - including both live and on-demand programming from Fox's extensive brand catalog. Subscribers will have the option to bundle access with Fox Nation through a single platform interface.
While an exact premiere date for American Dad's Fox return remains unannounced, fans can rest assured we'll be ready (theme song lyrics memorized) when it arrives. The series will likely be available on Fox One by its 2026 debut, with specific platform details expected to be confirmed during 2025.
