Anbernic Halts U.S. Shipments Due to Tariff Issues

Author : Lucy May 14,2025

Retro handheld console manufacturer Anbernic has temporarily halted all U.S. orders due to "changes in U.S. tariff policies." The company advises customers to opt for products shipped from their U.S. warehouse, which remain unaffected by import duties and can be purchased with confidence. Orders requiring shipment from China are currently not being processed.

Anbernic is renowned for its budget-friendly Game Boy clones, typically shipped directly from China upon release, with additional stock stored in U.S. warehouses. On Anbernic's website, customers can select between U.S. and China shipping options. However, not all products are available from the U.S., meaning popular items like the Anbernic RG CubeXX and RG 406H are no longer accessible to American customers.

The Trump administration has introduced tariffs of up to 145% on imports from China, with potential increases to 245% for certain products like electric vehicles. These tariffs often result in higher prices for consumers, impacting tech and gaming products such as Nintendo Switch 2 accessories and gaming laptops.

Anbernic is actively seeking solutions for customers affected by customs fees during this transitional period.

In related news, Nintendo officially unveiled the Switch 2 during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct earlier this month. Although pre-orders were initially planned to open in early April in the U.S., uncertainties related to tariffs in both the U.S. and Canada led Nintendo to delay the pre-order date to April 24. Despite the delay, Nintendo has maintained the $449.99 price for the Switch 2 console and its games, but has raised prices on most Switch 2 accessories.
