Ubisoft's latest addition to the iconic stealth-action open-world series, Assassin's Creed Shadows, has arrived, marking the 14th installment in the core series. Set in 16th-century Japan, players take on the roles of Naoe and Yasuke, continuing the saga that began with Desmond Miles and Altaïr back in 2007. With over 30 games under the Assassin's Creed banner, we're focusing solely on the mainline entries, excluding mobile, side-scrolling, VR, and spin-offs like Bloodlines or Liberation.
I've crafted a personal tier list based on my enjoyment of each game, which you can explore below:
Simon Cardy's Assassin's Creed Tier List
For me, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag holds a special place at the top of the S-tier. The blend of island exploration, ship combat, and a vibrant cast creates what I believe is the quintessential Assassin's Creed experience. It shares the S-tier with Assassin's Creed 2, the game that truly thrust the series into the spotlight. In the A-tier, I've placed Valhalla, which might be controversial due to its length, but I adored the Viking-inspired combat and the Orlog minigame. Unity also sits in the A-tier, its stunning recreation of French Revolution-era Paris remains breathtaking even after a decade.
Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you find Valhalla too expansive or believe Assassin's Creed 2 is overrated? You can create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the entire IGN community.
