The Blood of Dawnwalker Devs Are Striving For Witcher 3 Levels of Quality

The open-world vampire RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by former CD Projekt Red (CDPR) developers at Rebel Wolves, is setting its sights on achieving a level of quality comparable to The Witcher 3, but in a more compact package. Dive deeper into what this exciting new title has in store and hear directly from the game's directors.

The Blood Of Dawnwalker Aims For AAA Quality

In an interview with Games Radar, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the creative director of The Blood of Dawnwalker, expressed that despite being a smaller studio launching their debut game, the team is committed to delivering a quality experience on par with CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3. When questioned about the game's classification between indie and AAA, Tomaszkiewicz clarified, "In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level of The Witcher 3."

Although Rebel Wolves is a new studio, its team is far from inexperienced. Comprising former CDPR developers who contributed to The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, the staff at Rebel Wolves brings a wealth of industry knowledge. Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, along with his brother Konrad, founded the studio to pursue greater creative freedom in game development, free from the constraints of a large AAA studio like CDPR.

Tomaszkiewicz further explained, "Definitely, our games are not as huge in terms of amount of content and gameplay hours - we are a smaller studio, this is our first project, so we definitely are building something smaller. But we want to build something as robust in terms of quality, maybe a bit shorter." He highlighted that The Blood of Dawnwalker aims for a main campaign lasting 30-40 hours, which, while shorter than typical AAA titles, does not compromise on quality. "If size is your measure, then yes it's not the size of a AAA like The Witcher. But I don't know if size is the measure, to be honest, because there are AAA games like Call of Duty that aren't 100+ hours gameplay campaigns. And I don't know if anyone would call them AA, or indie."

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in the mystical land of Vale Sangora. Players will assume the role of Coen, a young peasant who gains vampiric powers after an encounter with one of the land's most powerful vampires. His journey is driven by a mission to save his ailing sister, navigating through the dark and hostile world to fulfill his quest.

While no specific release date has been announced, The Blood of Dawnwalker is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Fans can look forward to a gameplay reveal in Summer 2025.
