Borderlands 4's Evolving Weapon Manufacturer System
Enhanced Discovery Mechanics

The iconic Borderlands weapon system receives its most ambitious overhaul yet in Borderlands 4. Executive Producer Chris Brock revealed to GamesRadar+ that while Borderlands 3's arsenal was impressive, the sequel introduces deeper surprise elements and personalization options.
"We're building upon our proven weapon framework with new mechanics that'll keep players constantly discovering fresh combinations," Brock explained. The game's innovative "licensed parts" system allows manufacturer-specific traits to appear across different weapon types.
Each manufacturer maintains its distinct identity with signature firing mechanics and visual styles, helping players quickly identify preferred weapon types during fast-paced combat.

Borderlands 4 welcomes three new arms manufacturers: Order, Ripper, and Daedalus. Fan-favorite brands like Jakobs and Maliwan return, while Hyperion and COV exit following narrative developments in previous games. Senior Project Producer Anthony Nicholson emphasized Gearbox's commitment to expanding the weapon experience, building on Borderlands 3's billion-gun arsenal.
"We're constantly adding new manufacturers, legendary weapons, and customization options to empower player creativity," Nicholson stated. "Borderlands 4 will offer an unprecedented variety of firearms and attachments for endless loadout possibilities."
Exclusive Hazard Pay Skin Rewards

Borderlands 4 ups the ante with a free launch bonus for dedicated fans. Gearbox announced on June 28 that SHiFT members can claim the Hazard Pay Weapon Skin by subscribing to official newsletters through their account.
Players must link their SHiFT account to their gaming platform before launch. Additional SHiFT codes may arrive via email, offering extra in-game rewards alongside the cosmetic skin.

Despite recent pricing discussions, Borderlands 4 development continues full steam ahead with promised features like post-launch photo mode and the series' trademark comedic tone balanced with gritty storytelling.
Mark your calendars for September 12, 2025, when Borderlands 4 launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. For the latest updates on weapon systems and other features, stay tuned to our coverage.
