Breaking: Warner Bros.

The future of MultiVersus hangs in the balance, with Season 5 potentially serving as its final chapter. This comes from AusilMV, a reputable leaker known for accurate game information.

A source close to AusilMV claims Season 5 is a last-gasp attempt to revive the game's flagging fortunes. While currently just a rumor, the situation is undeniably precarious.

The game's initial launch in 2022 was a phenomenal success, boasting a peak of 153,000 concurrent Steam players. However, a dramatic 99% player drop followed swiftly, leading Warner Bros. Games to shut down the project in June 2023, cleverly framing it as an "open beta test." A relaunch with updates occurred in May 2024, yet the game failed to recapture its initial popularity.

Season 5, launching in early February, represents a make-or-break moment for the developers. This effectively constitutes a second launch, though the original 2022 release was retrospectively labeled a "beta." Despite the initial positive player reception, the developers' March 2023 announcement of a temporary June shutdown angered many, particularly those who had invested in the premium edition.
