The familiar burglar mechanic returns, allowing for a range of responses. Installing a security system will alert the authorities, leading to the burglar's arrest. Skilled Sims can enhance the system for improved reliability and automatic police dispatch. Without an alarm, players can call the police (hoping for a timely response) or attempt to befriend the intruder.
More creative, expansion pack-dependent solutions exist for those with additional content. Players can unleash the fury of trained dogs, spellcasters, vampires, or werewolves, or even freeze the criminal with a specialized ray.
