Capcom's Recent Spotlight Unveils Exciting Game Updates

Capcom recently held a Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, revealing significant updates for several titles. Key announcements include new details for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and extensive information on Monster Hunter Wilds.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword – A 2026 Release

PlayTargeted for a 2026 launch, Onimusha: Way of the Sword will feature a new protagonist, compelling characters, and engaging enemies. The game aims to recreate the historical setting of Kyoto, emphasizing visceral sword combat. The protagonist, facing a twist of fate, wields an Oni Gauntlet, fueled by the souls of defeated Genma. While challenging, the game's difficulty will be balanced for players of all skill levels.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny – Remastered in 2025

PlayA remastered version of the 2002 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, is slated for release in 2025, bridging the gap until Onimusha: Way of the Sword's arrival.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 – Arkveld Awaits

PlayThe second Open Beta for Monster Hunter Wilds introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging advanced quest. Other additions include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features like Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Data from the first Beta can be transferred. The Beta, featuring cross-play, runs:

  • Thursday, February 6 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 9 at 6:59pm PT
  • Thursday, February 13 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 16 at 6:59pm PT

PlayCharacter data transfers to the full game (February 28th release), but progress does not. Participants receive a special Pendant.

Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Threats

The showcase unveiled a new story trailer featuring the Iceshard Cliffs, introducing new monsters: Rove, Hirabami - Leviathan, Nerscylla - Temnoceran, and Gore Magala. Further details on Arkveld were also revealed.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 – May 16th Launch

PlayCapcom Fighting Collection 2 launches May 16th, 2025, including titles like Capcom vs. SNK (both Millennium Fight 2000 Pro and Mark of the Millennium 2001), Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone (both 1 & 2), Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.

Street Fighter 6 – Mai Arrives February 5th
