Should You Confront Wakasa or Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
After the tea ceremony, you should confront Wakasa because she is the Golden Teppo of the Onryo. This choice leads to the easiest resolution of her identity and subsequent elimination. When you confront Wakasa, she invites Naoe to her home for a private discussion. Upon entering, you'll notice a kasa (straw hat) on her wall, the same one worn by the Onryo during the prologue, confirming your decision.
After some dialogue, the scene allows Naoe to kill Wakasa effortlessly by using her own Teppo from the wall to shoot her at point-blank range, swiftly concluding the mission.

What If You Confront Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
If you mistakenly choose to confront Otama after the tea ceremony, you'll still end up killing Wakasa, but the path will be more challenging. Confronting Otama leads Naoe to chase her down and kill her, revealing through a letter on Otama’s person that she was corrupt, but allowing Wakasa to escape.
Wakasa then barricades herself in Osaka castle with her soldiers. To reach her, you'll need to journey to the castle, either by engaging her soldiers in combat or by sneaking past them. Even if you manage to get close enough for an assassination attempt, a one-on-one confrontation with Wakasa is inevitable.
While the boss fight isn't overly difficult, choosing to confront Wakasa directly from the start results in a less complicated and more satisfying cinematic kill, especially considering her role in Naoe’s father's death.
