Targeting Nu Udra's Weak Points
Nu Udra's extensive tentacles make dodging its attacks challenging. However, these same tentacles offer melee users a prime target. Severing its arms yields valuable materials, but caution is advised, as these limbs are potent weapons themselves.
Ranged weapon users have more options, but the mouth remains the optimal target, boasting a 4-star weakness. While the head offers a 3-star weakness to ammo damage, it's still a viable target for blunt and cut damage. Its pitch-black skin makes locating the mouth initially tricky.
Utilizing Environmental Advantages
Nu Udra possesses a fire affinity and employs fire attacks. It can even ignite itself, inflicting the dangerous Fireblight debuff. To mitigate this, strategically using Watermoss is highly recommended, allowing for safer attacks without succumbing to the status ailment.
Essential Gear and Preparations
For increased survivability, equipping fire-resistant gear is crucial. The Quematrice armor set, with its Fire Resistance skill, is an excellent choice. Fire Res Jewels significantly reduce fire damage, while Stream Jewels boost water attack damage, enhancing your offensive capabilities.
Avoiding Devastating Grab Attacks
Nu Udra's grab attack is particularly dangerous. If caught in its tentacles, it unleashes a fiery blast. To escape, quickly use a knife or attack its weak point with a Slinger during the brief pause after the grab.

Capturing Nu Udra

To capture Nu Udra, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment requires significantly weakening the monster first—look for the skull icon next to its health bar. Luring it with meat or strategically positioning yourself behind the trap as it targets you are effective methods. Once trapped, quickly use a Tranquilizer before it breaks free (you have approximately five seconds).
Mastering these tactics will significantly improve your chances of defeating and capturing Nu Udra. Remember, tackling this formidable beast can be challenging solo; don't hesitate to utilize multiplayer for assistance.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
