Behavior Interactive offers a detailed preview of its newest Killer, Springtrap, showcasing how his unique abilities will immerse Five Nights at Freddy’s fans in Dead by Daylight when the chapter launches on June 17, 2025.
Ahead of today’s public test build (PTB), Behavior revealed exclusive details to IGN about its latest horror crossover. The deep dive explores Springtrap’s FNaF-inspired powers—first teased earlier this month—and introduces a jump-scare mechanic unlike anything seen before in the asymmetrical horror title.
The studio calls this crossover chapter "one of the game’s largest to date," largely due to Springtrap, the axe-wielding yellow rabbit known as The Animatronic. Though deeply rooted in Five Nights at Freddy’s lore, this marks his debut as a playable character, allowing Behavior to subvert fan expectations.

Springtrap wields a massive pizza knife as his primary weapon and a fire axe for his Power. The latter proves especially lethal—its thrown arc reveals Survivors and, if timed perfectly, lodges into targets, triggering a classic FNaF jump-scare upon removal.
Five Nights at Freddy’s movie star Matthew Lillard lends his voice and likeness to The Animatronic’s Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Additional cosmetics include the Glitchtrap Legendary set, Rare Clown/Toxic variants, and Freddy Fazbear tees for Survivors.
Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Comes to Dead by Daylight
While Springtrap fulfills years of fan requests, the chapter’s other highlight is the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria map—a faithful recreation of the iconic restaurant with sinister Entity-driven twists.
Key areas like the Front Entrance, Kitchen, and Dining Hall feature familiar animatronics (Bonnie, Chica included), alongside new Easter eggs and jump scares. Survivors must navigate this haunting locale while utilizing security cameras and battery-powered doors to track Springtrap’s movements.
