Beginner’s Guide for Dead Sails

New to *Dead Sails*? No worries! Just like its predecessor *Dead Rails*, the gameplay is straightforward. As the captain, your mission is to sail a straight line for 10,000 meters between towns, ultimately aiming for 100,000 meters. Keep moving, manage your fuel, and stay alive. Sounds simple, right?

Before You Set Sail

Before embarking on your journey, the in-game lobby offers helpful options, though at a cost. As a new player, you start with 15 Dabloons, the game's currency. While boats are pricey and unnecessary for beginners, you might be tempted to spend on items like bandages and weapons. However, you'll find plenty of these in-game, so use your Dabloons wisely.

How To Choose A Class

We recommend spending your 15 Dabloons on a class. These in-game perks are purchased via a loot box system, costing 3 Dabloons each. You might get a class you love on your first try! Options like the Pirate and Gunslinger classes are great choices, but your selection should align with your playstyle. Check out our *Dead Sails* Class Tierlist for a detailed breakdown.

What To Do In Towns

When you start a round, you'll find yourself in a town where your ship is docked. Towns appear every 10,000 meters and serve as your safe havens. Here's what you can do:

  • Trading Hut: Sell items you've collected.
  • General Store: Purchase essential items for your journey.
  • Hospital: Heal yourself.
  • Gun Shop: Buy guns and ammunition.
  • Sheriff’s: Earn bounty money from pirate corpses and other lootable creatures.

Starting with a blunt weapon, there's no rush to buy a firearm. However, prioritize buying coal, as fuel is crucial. Spend all your money on coal to ensure you can keep moving forward.

Dead Sails Tips & Tricks

The gameplay may seem simple, but you'll encounter various buildings, structures, and undead creatures along your journey. Here are essential tips to master the game:

Tips For Never Running Out Of Fuel

Coal is your ship's lifeblood, adding 20% more fuel per chunk. While buying 5 coal pieces per town could theoretically get you to the end, there's more to explore. Collect items labeled "fuel" for a 5% increase, and don't forget to use the corpses of the undead you defeat as fuel. Efficiency is key!

How To Survive The Night

Nighttime in *Dead Sails* is tougher with reduced visibility. Ideally, spend the night in town for safety. If you're out at sea, buy Barbed Wire beforehand to keep mobs at bay. Without it, pause your journey and defend against any approaching creatures. Remember, death means game over.

Which Weapon To Choose

Choosing a weapon is personal. If you prefer melee, stick with your starting hammer or pickaxe. As you encounter stronger enemies, consider upgrading. A shotgun is ideal for its high damage output, perfect for unexpected combat. Early on, a revolver is a good choice to familiarize yourself with firearms, often found in buildings.

Best Items To Collect

Everything you collect can be sold, but with a limited 10-item inventory, prioritize wisely:

  • Moyai and Bars: Available in diamond, gold, and silver, these are lucrative.
  • Healing Packs: Keep these for emergencies rather than selling.
  • Crosses: Sell for 35 cash or use against undead.
  • Weapons: Use or sell based on need.
  • Robot Head: Found in houses and banks, sells for 45 cash.
  • Holy Water: Found in churches, sells for 25 cash.
  • Gold Llama: Rare and valuable, selling for 150 cash.

You can stack items on your boat, but remember to weld them in place (Z on keyboard) to prevent them from falling off.

With these tips, you're ready to become the ultimate captain in *Dead Sails*. Navigate the treacherous waters and reach the 100k meter goal. For an extra edge, don't forget to check out our *Dead Sails* codes.
