The PlayStation 5 Pro launched in November 2024 as a more powerful variant of the standard PS5. Previously, users had to choose between "Quality mode" (true 4K at max 30fps) or "Performance mode" (upscaled 1440p at up to 60fps). Thanks to its enhanced hardware, the Pro can deliver native 4 resolution and up to 60fps in most titles. The console retails for $699.99—$200 more than the standard model—and does not include a disc drive by default, which costs an additional $79.99.
