"Discovering the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds: A Guide"

Author : Madison Apr 23,2025

*Monster Hunter Wilds* has streamlined many of its systems, making monster tracking almost obsolete. However, there's a notable exception: tracking the Black Flame. Here's a detailed guide on how to find the Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.

Tracking the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds

During Chapter 3 of the main storyline, you'll encounter the elusive Black Flame, which will quickly disappear into the Oilwell Basin. Your mission is to track down this creature and defeat it.

Start by leaving the Base Camp and navigate towards Zone 9, as shown in the map screenshot below:

As you approach Zone 9, keep an eye out for tar tracks on the ground. Interact with these tracks, and your Hunter will pick up the Black Flame's scent, which will then be relayed to your scoutflies. This makes tracking the monster straightforward as the scoutflies will illuminate a green path leading directly to the Black Flame's location.

Head to Zone 9, where you'll find a large flaming crater. Follow the green path highlighted by the scoutflies to locate the Black Flame, also known as Nu Udra. This tentacled beast uses fire and other flame-based attacks, making it a formidable foe. A recommended strategy is to first target its tentacles to simplify the battle and gain easier access to its vulnerable inner points, which will yield more materials upon defeating it.

To combat the intense heat of the region, it's wise to carry Cool Drinks. These will prevent your health from depleting due to the high temperatures.

And that's the complete guide on how to find and defeat the Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed information on the game, including how to change your Palico's language and techniques for capturing monsters, be sure to check out The Escapist.
