Best Doom 2099 Decks in Marvel Snap

Marvel Snap's second anniversary brings us another exciting alternate character: Doctor Doom 2099! This guide explores the best decks featuring this powerful new card.

Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card."

DoomBot 2099 (also 4-cost, 2-power) has the ongoing effect: “Ongoing: Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power.” Crucially, this buff applies to both DoomBot 2099s and regular Doctor Doom.

The strategy revolves around playing exactly one card per turn after summoning Doom 2099. Early placement maximizes DoomBot 2099 deployment, potentially generating significant power. Consider this a 4-cost, 17-power card under ideal conditions, with even greater potential through early plays or game extension with cards like Magik.

However, Doom 2099 has drawbacks. Random DoomBot placement can hinder your strategy, and Enchantress (especially after its recent buff) completely negates the DoomBot power boosts.

Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement makes Spectrum-based Ongoing decks viable again. Here are some examples:

Deck 1: Spectrum/Ongoing Focus

Ant-Man, Goose, Psylocke, Captain America, Cosmo, Electro, Doom 2099, Wong, Klaw, Doctor Doom, Spectrum, Onslaught. [Untapped Link]

This budget-friendly deck (only Doom 2099 is a Series 5 card) offers multiple win conditions. Aim for early Doom 2099 placement using Psylocke or Electro, maximizing power distribution with Wong, Klaw, and Doctor Doom. Alternatively, Electro can facilitate the deployment of high-cost cards like Onslaught alongside DoomBots and Spectrum for widespread power boosts. Cosmo protects against Enchantress.

Deck 2: Patriot-Style

Ant-Man, Zabu, Dazzler, Mister Sinister, Patriot, Brood, Doom 2099, Super Skrull, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum. [Untapped Link]

Another affordable deck (again, only Doom 2099 is Series 5). Employ a typical Patriot strategy, using early-game cards like Mister Sinister and Brood, then transitioning to Doom 2099 followed by Blue Marvel and Doctor Doom or Spectrum. Zabu mitigates the cost of 4-cost cards. Flexibility is key; strategically skipping DoomBot generation allows for two 3-cost cards (like Patriot and a discounted Iron Lad) on the final turn. Super Skrull counters other Doom 2099 decks, but this deck remains vulnerable to Enchantress.

Is Doctor Doom 2099 Worth the Investment?

While Daken and Miek (released alongside Doom 2099 in Spotlight Caches) are relatively weak, Doom 2099 is a worthwhile acquisition. His power and deck-building accessibility make him a potential meta staple. Use Collector's Tokens if available, but don't hesitate to invest; unless nerfed, Doom 2099 will likely become one of Marvel Snap's most iconic cards.
