BioWare may have largely shifted its focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but the remaining team hasn’t completely abandoned the title. In a quiet move, they’ve added a small yet welcome DLC pack to the game—Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer.
The surprise came when fans noticed an update to the game’s Steam page, revealing free cosmetic content added to Dragon Age: The Veilguard. While it's not a major expansion or gameplay overhaul, this new addition is more than appreciated given EA’s earlier signals that future support for the game would be minimal. With Patch 5 back in January stating that updates would center on fixing critical bugs, seeing any fresh content feels like a rare treat—even if it’s modest.

Interestingly, the Rook’s Weapons Appearances pack is only accessible to players who already own the game or purchase it on PC before April 8, 2025. There’s no official description of the contents, but dedicated players have uncovered that it includes a set of Watchful-themed weapon skins, available through the Rook’s in-game room. It remains unknown whether this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions.
One Steam user commented, “Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever, they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!”
A Redditor added, “It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting new content. I'll take it.”

Upon its October launch, Dragon Age: The Veilguard received generally positive reviews from critics. However, EA stated the game didn’t “resonate with a broad enough audience.” By late January, many key developers had left BioWare, while others were laid off or reassigned. At that time, EA confirmed to IGN that the studio was now fully focused on the next Mass Effect title.
Despite everything, Dragon Age: The Veilguard made it onto the list of [ttpp] titles for PlayStation Plus in March 2025, just four months after release. No further plans for the game’s future have been officially announced.
