Dune: Awakening's developer has exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting the game's launch. The game is set for a full release on May 20, with no early access period or monthly subscription required. This announcement was made through a detailed blog post on Steam on March 21, where the developer, Funcom, also shared insights into the game's business model, system requirements, and plans for post-launch support.
Dune: Awakening, inspired by the iconic 1965 sci-fi novel, will stand out in the MMO landscape by not charging a monthly fee, unlike its competitors such as Final Fantasy XIV, World of Warcraft, and EVE Online. Instead, the game will be enhanced through regular free updates, introducing new content, features, and improvements to keep the experience fresh and engaging. Funcom's commitment to long-term support is evident from their track record with other titles like Anarchy Online, celebrating its 25th anniversary next year, and Conan Exiles, which continues to receive free updates, DLCs, and expansions well beyond its initial release.
