The highly anticipated open-world survival MMO, *Dune: Awakening*, inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's films, has been postponed to June 10, 2025. Developer Funcom announced this delay while also revealing that players eager for an early start can dive into the game on June 5 by purchasing the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition.

Funcom cited feedback from its ongoing Persistent Closed Beta as the reason behind the delay. They explained that the extra time would allow the team to "cook" a bit longer and implement essential changes requested during the beta phase. Additionally, the delay will pave the way for a "large-scale beta weekend next month," giving more players the chance to experience the game and provide valuable feedback.
While the news might disappoint those eager to explore the sands of Arrakis immediately, Funcom is set to host a combat livestream later today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will offer insights into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, keeping the excitement alive.
Here at IGN, our hands-on preview of *Dune: Awakening* expressed our enthusiasm, noting, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Duniverse, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that *Dune: Awakening* is one to watch."
