EcoDash: Endless Runner to Combat Air Pollution and Rescue Animals

Mother Nature: EcoDash is an innovative endless runner game available on Android, developed by Birmingham Open Media (BOM), a UK-based immersive arts organization. The game stands out not only for its gameplay but also for its mission-driven approach to addressing environmental issues like pollution and climate change.

This project is a collaborative effort between BOM and a group of girls aged 11-18 from Powered by CAN, a youth project. Their valuable input has significantly influenced the game’s art style, mechanics, and overall design, making it a unique and youth-informed experience.

What Makes Mother Nature: EcoDash Special?

In Mother Nature: EcoDash, you step into the shoes of Mother Nature, portrayed as a Black female scientist on a mission to clean up the city and rescue animals. As you navigate through the urban landscape, you're constantly pursued by Smog, a villain who embodies pollution. Your challenge is to outrun the smog, collect air purifiers, and keep the smog meter at bay to avoid being engulfed by toxic clouds.

Beyond the traditional running and jumping, the game incorporates rescue missions where you help endangered animals. Your journey leads you to the rainforest, where you can release these animals back into their natural habitat, adding a layer of purpose to your runs.

BOM's vision for Mother Nature: EcoDash was to make complex environmental issues like climate change and air pollution accessible and engaging. The game is packed with power-ups, shields, and bonus items that not only aid in gameplay but also enhance the educational aspect, making learning about these critical issues fun.

Mother Nature: EcoDash combines simplicity with a profound message, offering players an enjoyable way to understand and engage with environmental challenges. If this sounds like your kind of game, you can find it on the Google Play Store.
