Vermeij speculated that if a remaster were to happen, Rockstar might port GTA 4 to the latest version of their Rage engine. Yet, without any official word from Rockstar, these remain speculations. The development of GTA 6 is a massive project, and adding a GTA 4 remaster to their workload might be too ambitious, even for a studio with Rockstar's resources. An alternative could be outsourcing the project to an external studio, similar to what was done with the *Red Dead Redemption* port. However, releasing a GTA 4 remaster in 2025, close to GTA 6's planned fall 2025 release, seems unlikely as it could split the audience's attention.
