Fortnite reverses its controversial decision about one of the skins

The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a beloved Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus, much to the delight of fans. However, this joyous reunion was briefly overshadowed by a controversy.

The original release of the Master Chief skin included a special Matte Black style, exclusively available to players using Xbox Series S|X consoles. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as perpetually obtainable. Therefore, the unexpected announcement of its removal was met with significant backlash.

Some players even believed this action violated legal regulations and began preparations for a class-action lawsuit. Remarkably, Epic Games reversed its decision within 24 hours. The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X console.

This reversal appears to be the most sensible outcome. Given the festive Christmas season, such a contentious move would have undoubtedly soured the holiday spirit for many.
