The announcement highlighted a new Purpose Path, the much-anticipated mod support, and more, all designed to honor the legacy of the original game. Further details were shared in a Steam post on the same day, where the developers outlined their vision for this ambitious project.
11 bit Studios is transitioning from their proprietary Liquid Engine, used for the first game, to the Unreal Engine. Having developed Frostpunk 2 with Unreal Engine 5, the team recognized the potential to enhance the original game significantly. "Our goal is to expand upon it with improved visuals, higher resolution, and all the other possibilities Unreal has to offer," they explained.
