The LEGO Ideas platform has completed its third review round of 2024, officially selecting two fan-designed creations to become actual sets: an impressive Godzilla model and a Tintin Rocket.
Announced in a LEGO Ideas blog post, the company confirmed the LEGO Godzilla set, originally submitted by user MattE720 in December 2023, has been greenlit for production. While the final design, price, and release schedule are still being determined, this announcement guarantees Godzilla enthusiasts will receive their very first official LEGO set in the foreseeable future.
An Official LEGO Ideas Godzilla Set Is On The Way
This will be the very first LEGO set ever released featuring Godzilla. Although the final product will differ from the original fan submission, the design serves as the foundational concept. Given the numerous cinematic interpretations of the iconic giant lizard, designer MattE720 clarified that his model draws inspiration from more recent films, specifically citing Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire.
The exact piece count remains unknown, but the design appears substantial. LEGO has previously released large-scale dinosaur sets, such as the 3.5-foot-long T. Rex skeleton. Since LEGO Ideas sets typically target adult builders, we can anticipate the final Godzilla model to be a significant, detailed build for the 18+ audience.

Every LEGO Ideas set begins as a fan concept. Once a project gathers 10,000 supporters, it enters a formal review phase—a comprehensive process involving multiple factors. A major challenge for many submissions is securing the intellectual property rights. Consequently, an original idea like the Tuxedo Cat may have a smoother path to production than a concept tied to a major franchise if licensing agreements cannot be reached.
In addition to the newly approved sets, numerous other exciting LEGO Ideas projects are currently under review. This includes concepts for a Monsters, Inc. - Boo's Door set, the Planet Express Headquarters from Futurama, and even a nostalgic model of Clippy, the Microsoft Office assistant.
