Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get New Weapons

Author : Samuel Feb 26,2025

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal, and a well-rounded build hinges on acquiring strong weapons. While starting with basic equipment, exploration unlocks superior weapons tailored to your playstyle. This guide details how to obtain and upgrade your weaponry in this blend of roguelike and extraction mechanics.

Acquiring New Weapons

New weapons are primarily found within Overgrowths. While exploration naturally yields loot, focusing on sword (Blades) or pistol (Rails) icons on the map directly leads to these weapon types.

Blades are melee weapons with unique movesets and abilities, while Rails are ranged weapons with diverse functionalities. Both come in varying rarities, with gold being the most powerful. Rarity directly correlates with weapon stats, as is common in loot-driven games.

To save weapons for later use, press the Cache button instead of Equip. Cached weapons are accessible when modifying your loadout before starting a new run.

Obtaining New Starting Weapons

Beyond discovered weapons, the Cursed Outpost merchants offer new starting equipment. Initially, only the Blades merchant is accessible. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires sufficient materials to repair their shop.

Merchants have limited stock, but their inventory refreshes periodically. Check back frequently to discover new additions.

Weapon Upgrades

Outpost merchants provide weapon upgrades, but this feature requires increased merchant affinity. This is achieved by collecting Golden Rations, a rare resource obtained through exploration or cycle resets. Use Golden Rations judiciously due to their scarcity.

Death reduces equipped weapon durability (represented by the bar under the icon) by one pip. Repeated deaths will eventually break your weapons.
