Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlockable Breakers and Playstyles
Hyper Light Breaker offers a diverse roster of characters, each with unique playstyles. This guide covers all currently available characters and how to unlock them in the early access version.
Unlocking New Characters
To unlock new characters, you'll need Abyss Stones, obtained by defeating Crowns (bosses). First, locate Prisms (represented by golden diamond icons on the map) to access boss arenas. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock using your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method; the unlocking process for future characters may differ.
All Characters and Their SyComs
Each character starts with a SyCom, determining their base stats and core abilities. Choosing a SyCom significantly impacts a Breaker's playstyle.
Vermillion
Vermillion's default SyCom is Gunslinger, favoring ranged combat with critical hit chain reactions. His unlockable Tank SyCom boosts armor upon perfect parries, offering a more defensive melee-focused approach.
Lapis
Lapis begins with Lightweaver, a Rail-focused SyCom enhancing Rail shot damage after Battery pickups. Her unlockable Warrior SyCom increases core stats with each upgrade, making her potentially the strongest Breaker in the late game.
Goro
Goro is a ranged character. His Astrologer SyCom accelerates Blade skill charging while shooting, while his unlockable Sniper SyCom directly boosts critical hit rate. Goro is a high-risk, high-reward option, dealing substantial damage but lacking defensive capabilities.
