Infinity Nikki and its multiplayer-focused 1.5 update have launched on Steam, but the release is accompanied by a wave of controversy.
Infold Games' stylish dress-up adventure arrived on Valve's digital storefront yesterday, ending months of exclusivity on the Epic Games Store. Instead of a celebration for fans, the launch has been overshadowed by a host of technical problems, confusing design changes, and demanding outfit requirements. The developers have since issued an apology and promised compensation for affected players, but the future of Infinity Nikki remains uncertain.

PC players were eager to dive into the Steam release of Infinity Nikki yesterday, but they encountered a range of technical issues, including game crashes, launch failures, and general instability. While technical problems at launch are not uncommon, players quickly identified additional concerns beyond performance.
Two new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, require collecting 11 pieces each, meaning players may need up to 220 pulls—and a significant amount of money—to complete the sets. This represents a substantial increase from the usual set sizes, and the change was implemented without prior notice. Players worry that future outfit requirements could become even more demanding.
At the same time, Infold unexpectedly extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event from two weeks to three, creating confusion within the community. Amid the technical issues and increasingly demanding monetization practices, members of the Infinity Nikki Chinese player base voiced their concerns on the social media platform RedNote. The issue quickly grew into a widespread movement, with players across the globe calling for a boycott of the Steam version, negative reviews, and uninstalling the game on all platforms.
"Holding back your pulls for a few days can demonstrate our desire for Infinity Nikki to remain enjoyable and fair for everyone."
As Reddit user kiaxxl explained in a call-to-action post published earlier today, "A significant number of Chinese Infinity Nikki stylists are pledging to avoid spending or pulling on new banners to send a message through the game's revenue tracking systems. For gacha games, the success of new content is typically measured within the first few days. By refraining from pulling for a short time, we can show that we want the game to stay fun and fair for all players."
The Infinity Nikki community has taken notice of Infold's strategic changes, and the response has had an impact. The game currently holds a "Mixed" rating on Steam, with many negative reviews advising potential players to avoid it until the developers address their concerns.
The boycott gained enough momentum that Infold eventually issued an apology letter across its official channels. The letter assures players that many of the major technical issues have been resolved and promises better communication about future adjustments.
"Thank you again for your support," Infold’s message states. "We recognize that we still have room for improvement, but it is your companionship that inspires Nikki to continue pushing the boundaries of imagination. Please give us another chance to let Nikki’s light shine for everyone, and rest assured that our commitment remains sincere."

Dear Stylists,
Hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry that we were unable to provide you with a stable experience upon the release of the new… pic.twitter.com/YEjpGQpKho
The message also included commitments to revert the Mira Crown event to end on May 16 and begin the next season on the same day. Players will also receive compensation including 10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds. While these are positive steps, many feel they fall short of the comprehensive changes the community was hoping for.
While some view Infold's concessions as a clear victory, others remain concerned about the decision to maintain 11-piece outfits for new releases. Additionally, while the studio has promised improved communication, it appears that some future five-star outfits will still require 11 pieces.
I wish you would finally adjust the drop rates. It shouldn't take 200 pulls to get a five-star item, especially when you're releasing five banners within weeks! Either lower the required pulls or give us more diamonds to obtain crystals. This isn't enjoyable!

Infinity Nikki players are already celebrating the swift response they helped bring about, even if the outcome isn't exactly what they had hoped for. Those supporting the boycott now urge the community to maintain pressure on the developers.
As Reddit user EdensAsmr pointed out, "Consider this: Chinese players are highlighting that if we accept 11-piece outfits and the current pity system, most new five-star sets will likely require 11 pieces. Imagine every major update featuring two such banners. That means you'd need to save even more resources, and the 70-80 pulls typically earned per update won't be enough."
