Another gacha game bites the dust! KonoSuba: Fantastic Days Global, developed by Sumzap and published by Nexon (later Sesisoft), officially ended its run on January 30th. Let's look back at its lifespan and legacy.
A Relatively Short, But Respectful, Run
The global servers lasted a respectable 3.5 years, slightly shorter than the Japanese version's 5-year run. While revenue had been declining, the developers maintained active support until the very end, including recent voiced story updates and a final song release just three weeks prior to closure. A farewell livestream in December even featured Kazuma's voice actor.
A Farewell, But Not a Complete Goodbye (For Japanese Players)
The Japanese version offered a generous parting gift: an archive of the entire main story on their YouTube channel. Players can still revisit the antics of Kazuma and his companions. Furthermore, a dedicated offline version allows access to the story, voice lines, and character collection.
Unfortunately, the global version lacks both an offline mode and a dedicated YouTube archive. However, fans can still enjoy the Japanese YouTube archive for continued KonoSuba enjoyment.
