Minor spoilers ahead for A Minecraft Movie.

The creative minds behind A Minecraft Movie shared with IGN that one of the film's most humorous scenes drew inspiration from The NeverEnding Story. In this memorable moment, Jack Black's character, Steve, finds himself in a precarious situation where he must cling to Jason Momoa's character, Garrett, due to a shortage of Elytra wings, which were only available for Garrett and Sebastian Hansen's character, Henry. The scene showcases Steve scrambling to hold on, resulting in a blend of physical comedy and suspense as he tries to avoid a perilous fall. This sequence, however, was more than just a comedic interlude.

Play"We definitely wanted to capture the essence of the Falkor moment from *The NeverEnding Story*—something majestic and beautiful, yet quickly spiraling out of control," explained *A Minecraft Movie* director Jared Hess.

"It was hilarious during the breaks between takes," added producer Torfi Frans Ólafsson. "Jack was perched on top of Jason in this intricate rig, and he started singing The NeverEnding Story theme song while pretending to ride Jason like Falkor."

The scene is a nod to Jack Black's previous role as Slip in The NeverEnding Story 3, adding a layer of nostalgia and humor. Jason Momoa, who played a significant part in bringing this scene to life, shared his excitement about the creative process.

"I contributed to writing that scene, and Jack was all in," Momoa said with a chuckle. "We were inspired by Top Gun: Maverick and wanted to include a stunt where I could hit the brakes and Jack would slide off, only for me to switcheroo him. We were brainstorming this at the hotel, and it was so funny that we had to include it in the movie. The final result is phenomenal."

Jack Black noted the various versions of the scene that were filmed, some of which could have pushed the boundaries into an R-rated territory. "We opted for a family-friendly version in the end," he said.

"Let my hips guide you! You can't just ride me like I'm majestic," Momoa quipped. "I was dying, man. I was dying."
