The much-anticipated Abyssal Depths update for the fantasy sandbox MMORPG Albion Online is now live, following its announcement in May. Sandbox Interactive has introduced this fresh gameplay mode to its world of swords and sorcery.
What's New in Albion Online with the Abyssal Depths?
True to its name, this update introduces a new dungeon type concealed within ancient, demon-plagued aqueducts. This cramped underground maze pits teams of two or three players against both deadly creatures and rival adventurers.
Venture into the Depths to spend an uncertain amount of time gathering Souls and accumulating buffs as you descend. If you are defeated, you will only lose the items in your inventory, keeping your primary equipment safe. The final stage features a secured Treasure Vault waiting to be plundered.
A unique feature of the Depths is the Antiquarian's Den. This somber underground hub, accessible from all Royal Cities and Caerleon, serves as a gateway to the Depths, Hellgates, and Corrupted Dungeons.
The new Antiquarian Standing system centers on the Antiquarian, a mysterious entity who operates the Den. This system also unveils two new spiderling companions: the Hellspinner and the Soulspinner.
Plenty to Discover!
Furthermore, the Abyssal Depths update adds two distinct Crystal Weapons to Albion Online: the Truebolt Hammer and the Stillgaze Staff. The hammer allows you to pulverize foes with shocking power while providing a protective shield for nearby allies. The staff, on the other hand, enables you to shapeshift into a Crystal Cobra.
A new Character Progression section has also been added to the Journal. Linked to the Destiny Board, it provides milestones, long-term achievements, and access to rare rewards.
