Capcom Unveils Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay, Starring Miyamoto Musashi
Capcom has treated fans to a fresh look at its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The new gameplay trailer, showcased during the PlayStation State of Play, features the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as the protagonist.
The trailer highlights intense sword combat and formidable foes, promising a thrilling action experience. Musashi's portrayal blends impressive swordsmanship with a mischievous and humorous personality.
Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on the late Toshiro Mifune, a renowned Japanese actor known for his samurai roles.
The game's setting is a Kyoto overrun by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning demonic entities from Hell. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To build anticipation, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
