Developer Pocketpair has exciting news for fans of their massively popular monster-catching universe: they've announced Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim that promises to add a touch of romance to the franchise. Announced on March 31, 2025, this isn't an April Fools' Day prank, despite the timing raising some eyebrows among fans who are wary of the upcoming flood of April Fools' Day gags and fake game announcements.
Pocketpair is keen to assure skeptics that Palworld! More Than Just Pals is indeed a legitimate project. The concept originated from their 2024 April Fools' Day stunt, which initially presented the idea as a humorous fake. Now, it's becoming a reality, set to launch on PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced date.
The dating sim takes an intriguing turn within the Palworld universe by introducing players to a romantic storyline set at Palagos Private Academy. Here, players enroll as a transfer student and interact with a diverse cast of student Pals, including characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet, all familiar from the original Palworld game. The official description from Pocketpair invites players to explore school life, forge friendships, and possibly embark on romantic journeys with these Pals. In a twist characteristic of the Palworld universe, players can also choose darker paths, such as dismembering and consuming their Pals.
To dispel any doubts about the announcement's legitimacy, Bucky from the Palworld team tweeted, "This doesn't concern April Fools :)" on the same day as the announcement.
As Palworld! celebrates its one-year anniversary and continues to evolve with updates like crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, and a photo mode, fans have much to look forward to. There's also hope among the community for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the original game, and while that remains uncertain, there's optimism that Palworld! More Than Just Pals might make its way to the console in the future.
