Palworld Dev Grants Staff Day Off for Monster Hunter Wilds Launch

Author : Christian Sep 26,2025

The development team behind Palworld granted employees a special day off to celebrate Monster Hunter Wilds' launch.

Japanese outlet Automaton reports that studio Pocketpair recently shared a humorous social media post about receiving multiple "mysterious" sick notices from staff claiming they'd "likely feel unwell" on February 28th - Monster Hunter Wilds' official release date.

Recognizing the enthusiasm, Pocketpair declared February 28th an unofficial holiday while reassuring players their game updates wouldn't be affected. This isn't the studio's first gaming holiday - they previously gave staff time off for Elden Ring's 2022 launch.

The hunting RPG has achieved staggering success, hitting 1 million concurrent Steam players - enough to enter Steam's all-time top 10 most-played games, surpassing major titles like Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring.

Despite its popularity, Steam reviews currently sit at "Mixed" due to performance concerns, prompting Capcom to release official PC optimization guidance. Meanwhile, details have emerged about Title Update 1, which will introduce an endgame social hub.

The game's cultural impact proves strongest in its native Japan, where one indie developer humorously lamented selling zero Steam copies since Wilds' launch. For new hunters, we recommend checking our beginner's guide covering essential mechanics and all 14 weapon types.
