These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This guide details how to locate and activate this crucial benefit.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice: in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants +10% Lightning Resistance each time. Its understated icon on the world map makes it easily overlooked.
Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, the Sisters' precise location within the Spires of Deshar is unpredictable. However, it's guaranteed to be present on this map. A thorough search will reveal a shrine resembling the image above. Activating it bestows the buff, but be prepared for combat; nearby automatons will spring to life and attack. Activating the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.
A helpful strategy involves reaching the checkpoint near the exit before activating the shrine. This allows for fast travel back to the shrine's vicinity, bypassing potentially challenging encounters.
Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate upon contact.
Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both acts yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Troubleshooting: Why Isn't My Lightning Resistance Increasing?
Many players find it perplexing that despite activating the shrine and receiving the confirmation message, their resistance values remain negative.
This is due to a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances applied after each Act (Chaos Resistance is unaffected). Therefore, completing the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 neutralizes the Act 1 debuff, resulting in a net zero Lightning Resistance. In Act 2 Cruel, the buff partially offsets the accumulated debuff.
To verify the buffs are active, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates that you've successfully completed all necessary steps.
