If you're a fan of Peacemaker, you're in for a treat because Max has just dropped a brand-new trailer for Season 2, and it’s packed with intriguing connections to the world of Superman. The opening scene introduces us to Maxwell Lord, played by Sean Gunn, alongside Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl. In this scene, they’re seen interviewing John Cena’s Peacemaker for what seems to be a potential spot on a superhero team. Spoiler alert: the interview doesn’t go well, leaving Peacemaker visibly disheartened as he storms out.

This trailer offers fans their first look at several supporting characters who will feature in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie. It’s clear that these characters are woven into the fabric of the new DCU, which is distinct from the previously panned DCEU.

Season 2 of Peacemaker premieres on August 21, following the release of Superman on July 11, which marks the third installment in the DCU. James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran have reimagined the cinematic universe, moving away from the DCEU while retaining certain elements. For instance, Peacemaker itself serves as a bridge between the two universes, with Season 1 originating in the DCEU and Season 2 debuting in the new DCU.

Gunn has mentioned that many aspects of Peacemaker's storyline will remain consistent, although specifics about what carries over from the DCEU to the DCU are still under wraps. What we do know is that all returning characters will be reprising their roles, including Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo. Additionally, Gunn confirmed that the show will be set after the events of Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter’s impact influencing the narrative of Peacemaker.

Stay tuned for more updates as the countdown to Season 2 begins!
