Pokémon Champions, Game Freak's Leaked Multiplayer Game, Officially Revealed

Author : Oliver Mar 22,2025

After months of whispers and leaks, Pokémon Champions has finally emerged from the shadows. This brand-new multiplayer battle-focused Pokémon game is a collaborative effort between Game Freak and The Pokémon Works, a recent joint venture between The Pokémon Company and ILCA (the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl).

Pokémon Champions puts the spotlight squarely on Pokémon battles, utilizing the series' classic battle system. Players will engage in online battles against each other, showcasing their strategic prowess and finely-tuned teams. The trailer confirmed the return of Mega Evolution and Terastallization, hinting at a vast roster spanning various Pokémon generations and types.

PlayA significant feature is Pokémon Champions' integration with Pokémon Home. This allows players to transfer Pokémon from previous games, finally giving those hundreds of Pokémon gathering digital dust a purpose.

Currently in development for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, Pokémon Champions lacks a concrete release date. However, we do know that Latin American Spanish will be among the launch languages.

Interestingly, Pokémon Champions appears to be the same game that leaked last year as "Pokémon Synapse," part of the infamous "Freak Leak." While initial details were scarce, suggesting a multiplayer focus and drawing some (inaccurate) comparisons to Splatoon, the official reveal confirms a more battle-centric experience.
