Pokémon TCG Pocket finally tackles trading in new update, but it\'s not coming until autumn

Author : Leo Mar 16,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket is making significant changes to its trading system, addressing player concerns about accessibility and restrictions. The update completely removes Trade Tokens, replacing them with Shinedust. Shinedust is earned by opening booster packs and receiving duplicate cards already registered in your Card Dex. Existing Trade Tokens will be automatically converted to Shinedust.

Further adjustments are planned for Shinedust, including its integration with flair acquisition. An upcoming update will also introduce an in-game feature to share cards you wish to trade.

The initial trading system faced criticism due to its reliance on scarce currency and restrictive trading options. These limitations stemmed from the need to prevent abuse within the digital trading environment, which differs from real-world trading.

While these changes are welcome, the implementation timeline extends into autumn, suggesting a slower-than-desired pace of improvement. Players seeking alternative mobile gaming experiences in the meantime might want to explore our list of top five new mobile games.
