Fans of the time-bending RPG Reverse: 1999 have a double treat in store: an upcoming livestream on April 18th will offer a preview of version 2.5 alongside details for the 1.5th anniversary. This will be our first proper look at the next major update, 'Showdown in Chinatown.'

The livestream will be presented in-character by Captain Regulus and a new figure, Officer Liang Yue, both in chibi form. Attendees can look forward to code giveaways and a contest with a Nintendo Switch 2 as the prize.

Since version 2.5 has already been detailed for the Chinese audience, we have some early insights. 'Showdown in Chinatown' pays tribute to classic Hong Kong martial arts films, weaving a tense crime story about hunting down an arcanist vigilante.

In terms of characters, the martial arts expert Officer Liang Yue will infiltrate the film set of Noire, a new character who is a perfectionist director confined to a wheelchair. Noire's abilities involve physically manipulating her ideal actors to fight enemies. Another newcomer, Loggerhead, whose head is a camera, is also slated to appear.

While the international version's exact content will be confirmed during the livestream, version 2.5 is sure to include numerous nods for fans of Shaw Brothers and John Woo classics.
