Mastering Rune Slayer's Fishing Mechanics: A Comprehensive Guide

If you've ever doubted Rune Slayer’s MMORPG credentials, its fishing system should settle the matter. This guide will walk you through the surprisingly unintuitive process of fishing in Rune Slayer.

Recommended Pre-Fishing Steps

Before you cast a line, accept the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired NPC near the Barracuda's swimming area). He requires you to catch 5 items, rewarding you with a Tackle Box upon completion.

Next, purchase a Wood Fishing Rod and at least 5 Worms (10 is recommended) from Simon. Crucially, you don't equip the bait; simply keep the Worms in your inventory. A Worm is automatically consumed with each catch. Having at least 5 Worms seems essential for successful fishing. Consider placing them in your hotbar for easy monitoring.

Select your Wood Fishing Rod (placing it in your hotbar suffices). Hold M1 to cast your line into the water (near Simon's pier works well).

Watch the bobber; when it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch. Note: This isn't foolproof; you'll often catch nothing, or junk items. However, Simon counts junk as a valid catch.

Complete the Quest

After catching 5 items (fish or otherwise), return to Simon to complete the quest and receive your Tackle Box. Store your remaining Worms in the Tackle Box to free up inventory space.
