How to Become a Shinigami in Hollow Era
In Hollow Era, you start as a Soul Spirit, navigating the afterlife. To become a Shinigami, you must interact with an NPC named Hurt Shinigami who is calling for assistance. Accepting her quest marks your transition into a Soul Reaper, a path that cannot be reversed to play as a Hollow unless you later become a Visored. If you're keen on exploring the Hollow route, refer to our separate guide on Hollow progression.

The choice between Shinigami and Hollow is time-sensitive. To become a Hollow, simply break your chain. As a Shinigami, however, your chain will slowly deteriorate every two minutes, and if it breaks completely, you'll become a Hollow. In such a case, our resurrection moves lists will guide you through your new Hollow journey.
Hollow Era Shinigami Quests Guide
Your initial quest as a Shinigami is to purify 6 Lost Souls, reflecting your role in maintaining the balance between life and death. Following this, you'll find another quest near Hurt Shinigami, requiring you to deliver a letter to a Doctor friend near the hospital.

These early quests are perfect for mastering your abilities. Consider purchasing a $1,000 random sword of power from a Urakara shop. If your budget allows, use the bus stop as a teleport/fast travel option for $200, given the game's expansive map. Alternatively, for 149 Robux, you can buy infinite fast travel from the Robux Shop.

As you progress, quests are marked with a red crosshair, guiding you through various tasks such as defeating Hollows and Corrupted Shinigamis. These quests fall into categories: repeatable, progression, and path-specific quests like Vizard and Airwalk.

Full Soul Reaper Skill Tree and Reiatsu
To maximize your Shinigami potential, strategic investment in your Reiatsu Skill Tree is crucial. This tree includes powerful Kido abilities exclusive to Shinigami.
Kido and Reiatsu Nodes enhance your damage output and maximum Reiatsu, respectively. Here are some Kido abilities and their effects:
Caja Negacion: Projects a beam of lightning, which, when combined with Electric, spreads to nearby targets.
Shakkaho: Generates a red energy ball that explodes on impact. With Ragdoll, it can knock back enemies, and with Fire, it ignites them.
Chain Bind: Summons energy chains to pull enemies toward you.
Prison of Light: Encircles the enemy with six light rods, immobilizing them—ideal for fast foes.
Thunder Sear: Launches a slow-moving lightning ball that damages and crowds controls enemies before exploding.
How to Get Shikai in Hollow Era
Reaching level 15 unlocks the Shikai Training quest from Urihiro. You'll need to defeat Urahara Kisuke to earn 1,700 exp and unlock Shikai powers.

Warning: If you're not fully optimized, defeating Kisuke at level 15 can be challenging. Consider grinding to level 25 or higher before attempting this quest.
Using Shikai
Upon unlocking Shikai, you'll receive a random powerful ability for your weapon. If unsatisfied, visit Urahara Shop to re-roll for a fee. Shikai is activated using the Rage Bar, which fills with damage taken or dealt. Press Y (default keybind) to use Shikai, which ends when your Reiatsu is depleted or you release the key.
Hollow Era Shikai Mastering
Shikai Mastery is measured by Mastery Points earned through using Shikai Skills. Higher Mastery Levels reduce Rage consumption, granting different aura effects and visual enhancements.
Mastery Level 1: 1-149 Points. Grants Transparent Aura.
Mastery Level 2: 150-299 Points. Grants a brighter aura with particles.
Mastery Level 3: 300-499 Points. Grants a Lightning boost.
Mastery Level 4: 500+ Points. Grants a zone of flying stones around you.
Becoming a Visored in the Hollow Era
While choosing to be a Shinigami locks you out of the Hollow path, becoming a Visored allows you to harness both Shinigami and Hollow powers with the Hollow Mask. To start this journey, you must reach level 50 and visit the Vizard’s Warehouse to obtain the Vizard quest.

To become a Visored, you'll need the Hogyoku, obtained by defeating the King of Hueco Mundo (with a 1% drop rate). This marks the beginning of unlocking Visored abilities.
Hollow Era Visored Mastering
As a Visored, you gain benefits like Mask Control to resist Hollow control and extended mask wear time, boosting your damage output.

Cero: Charges a beam of Reiatsu for significant damage.
Final Cero: Pins down enemies and crushes them with a powerful Cero from above.
Vasto Rage: Temporarily transforms you into the mightiest Hollow type, unleashing your full potential.

Hollow Era Tips and Tricks
To manage combat better, use the lockup button to focus on your primary target, especially useful during laggy moments. Learn how to block enemy attacks early to mitigate damage, as even low-level foes can be deadly.
Invest in the bus teleport to save time traveling across the map. When allocating Skill Points, prioritize Strength and Speed for effective early gameplay. Use Reiatsu sense (press and hold J, default keybind) to locate markers around Karakura.
If repetitive tasks bother you, the Shinigami path might be more enjoyable than the Hollow route, which involves more chores.
