10-Minute Trailer Showcases New Characters and Gameplay
At SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas, Kojima Productions and Sony revealed the release date for *Death Stranding 2: On The Beach* (DS2). The March 9th event opened with a captivating 10-minute trailer, offering glimpses into the game's narrative and gameplay. The trailer suggests DS2 will continue the series' exploration of human connection in a post-apocalyptic setting.Director Hideo Kojima was joined by PlayStation's Kristen Zitan, along with returning actors Norman Reedus (Sam Porter Bridges), Troy Baker, and Woodkid. The trailer introduced a new character, Neil (played by Luca Marinelli), leader of a mysterious faction. His resemblance to Solid Snake, particularly when wearing a headband, has ignited considerable fan speculation.
This resemblance isn't lost on Kojima himself. He previously noted on Instagram (July 2020) that Marinelli's likeness to Solid Snake is uncanny when wearing a bandana. Regardless of the visual similarities, Neil's faction promises to be a pivotal element in Death Stranding 2.
