A Massive Roster of Racers
While the full roster remains under wraps (though 23 characters are confirmed at launch, with more to come), the reveal trailer showcases a star-studded lineup. Expect to see familiar faces like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, alongside fan favorites from Sonic Riders (Jet, Wave, and Storm), the Deadly Six (Zavok and Zazz), Team Dark (Shadow, Rouge, and E-123 Omega), the Chaotix (Vector, Charmy, and Espio), and even Blaze, Silver, Cream, and Big. Dr. Eggman, Egg Pawn, and Metal Sonic round out this impressive cast.
CrossWorlds: Dynamic Racing Through Shifting Landscapes
Prepare for a revolutionary racing experience with the introduction of "Travel Rings." These portals transport racers between diverse and vibrant CrossWorlds in real-time, transforming the race with new environments, obstacles, and even giant monsters! Expect 24 main tracks and 15 distinct CrossWorlds, each offering a unique theme park-like atmosphere. Inspired by Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, tracks dynamically change throughout each lap, demanding constant adaptation.
Customization, Extreme Gear, and Gadgets
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds offers unprecedented vehicle customization. Players can tweak everything from body parts and wheels to colors, tire designs, cockpits, and even the vehicle's glow. Add to that 23 power-up gadgets to fine-tune your racing style and 45 unique vehicles, including the return of Extreme Gear hoverboards for boost-heavy racing. Takashi Iizuka, Sonic Creative Officer, calls it "a great culmination of all the Sonic Racing series games to date."
Closed Network Test: Get in on the Action!
A closed network test (exclusively for PlayStation 5) is now open for registration (February 12th-19th, 2025). The playtest runs worldwide from February 21st to 24th, 2025. Participants completing a post-test survey will receive an exclusive in-game sticker and title.
