Sony's popular PlayStation console themes for PS5 are disappearing! The limited-time PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes will be unavailable starting February 1st, 2025. However, there's a silver lining: Sony plans to bring these nostalgic designs back in the coming months.
In a recent tweet, Sony expressed gratitude for the overwhelmingly positive reception to the themes, attributing their temporary removal to behind-the-scenes work aimed at their eventual return.

Unfortunately, Sony also announced that no further themes beyond these four retro offerings are currently planned for the PS5. This news has disappointed many fans who enjoyed the nostalgic boot-up sounds and visual styles. The company stated they will continue to celebrate PlayStation's history in other ways.
The temporary themes, released to commemorate PlayStation's 30th anniversary on December 3rd, 2024, offered a unique customization experience. Each theme recreated the look and feel of its respective console generation, including iconic menu designs, background patterns (such as the PS3's wave effect), and authentic sound effects. The PS1 theme featured the original console on the home screen background.
