Sony Unveils Sleek Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Accessories

Sony has announced a stylish new Midnight Black Collection for PlayStation 5, adding a dark aesthetic to its popular accessories. The collection includes the DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation Portal handheld remote player, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds.

This isn't Sony's first foray into darker hues; the original Midnight Black DualSense controller was a hit. However, this collection brings the sophisticated black finish to its latest and most advanced peripherals. The DualSense Edge controller, notably, includes a matching black carrying case.

Pricing for the new accessories is as follows:

  • DualSense Edge wireless controller (Midnight Black): $199.99
  • PlayStation Portal (Midnight Black): $199.99
  • Pulse Explore wireless earbuds (Midnight Black): $199.99
  • Pulse Elite wireless headset (Midnight Black): $149.99

Note that the Pulse Elite headset's price is higher than its predecessor, the Pulse 3D wireless headset. Both the headset and earbuds come in a felt gray carrying case, a slight departure from the black theme.

Pre-orders begin January 16th, 2025, at 10am ET, exclusively through direct.playstation.com. The full launch is scheduled for February 20th, 2025.

Beyond the Midnight Black Collection, Sony continues to expand its range of themed DualSense controllers. Recent examples include controllers themed after God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and a limited-edition Helldivers 2 controller is currently available for pre-order.

$199 at Amazon, $200 at Best Buy, $200 at GameStop, $199 at Walmart, $200 at Target
