Hazelight Games is thrilled to announce that their latest co-op adventure game, Split Fiction, has continued its explosive start by selling an impressive 2 million copies in just one week. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has swiftly cemented its status as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are “blown away” by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.
The studio had previously shared that within a mere 48 hours of its release, Split Fiction attracted 1 million players eager to dive into Mio and Zoe’s captivating sci-fi narrative. Remarkably, another million copies were sold in the following five days, showcasing the game's sustained appeal.
As a cooperative game, Split Fiction's player base extends far beyond the number of copies sold, thanks to its innovative Friend’s Pass feature. This allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free, significantly amplifying its reach within the gaming community. As the buzz around Split Fiction continues to grow on social media, the sales figures are expected to soar even higher.
Reflecting on their past achievements, Hazelight's previous release, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, also saw remarkable success. It sold around 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023, and an astounding 20 million by October 2024.
In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as “an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another,” highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.
