Star Wars Outlaws has just expanded its universe with the release of the "A Pirate’s Fortune" DLC, now available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. At the heart of this new adventure is the beloved character Hondo Ohnaka, a Weequay pirate known from the Darth Maul comics and Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. According to Drew Rechner, Creative Director at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment, the team's passion for Hondo drove the creation of this expansion.
"We always knew because there were so many passionate people on the team that we needed to feature Hondo. And, you know, that scoundrel fantasy of Kay mixing with the pirate fantasy of Hondo, it just kind of makes sense, right?" Rechner shared with IGN. He highlighted how this DLC explores Kay's journey into leadership, with Hondo serving as an intriguing mentor figure—or perhaps something more.
The "A Pirate’s Fortune" DLC introduces a fresh narrative involving the Rokana Raiders crime gang and the Miyuki Trade League, which can supply Kay with upgrades for her Trailblazer ship. Players will also enjoy a new blaster capability called Shock, adding depth to the gameplay experience.
In addition to the DLC, Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4. While Rechner remained tight-lipped about specific new features for this platform, he hinted at forthcoming announcements: "In terms of a specific feature set, that's something that we will get into later. So we'll have more stuff to talk about later." The Switch 2's unique features, such as controllers that can function as a mouse and a new GameChat capability, could potentially enhance the gaming experience.
