Short Circuit Studio has recently unveiled an exciting new update for their freshly launched settlement builder game, TownsFolk. Titled "Shadows and Fortune," this update aligns perfectly with the game's charming yet darker pixel-art aesthetic, introducing a host of new mechanics for players to explore.
Just because TownsFolk is newly launched doesn't mean it's skimping on depth. The "Shadows and Fortune" update enriches the gameplay with new buildings and challenges. You'll need to be on guard against roaming Barbarians, which add a layer of tension to your campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Additionally, you can expand your settlement with eight new structures: the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer.
Water tiles are also getting an upgrade with the addition of the rare Whale, enhancing the aquatic elements of the game. To further spice things up, Special Locations like ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks introduce more unpredictability into your explorations.
To help you navigate this expanded world, a handy Compendium serves as an in-game encyclopedia, keeping you informed about all the new elements. The Exploration System has been revamped, and you can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes to suit your playstyle.
