Dynasty Warriors: Origins lacks a dedicated sprint button; your character automatically sprints after a few running steps. While sprinting offers decent speed, traversing large battlefields to aid officers requires a faster method.
Enter your trusty steed, summonable at any time in the overworld or during battles. Engage in combat from horseback for swift hit-and-run tactics. Here's how to acquire your first horse, enhance its abilities, and swap it for other mounts.
How To Obtain Your First Mount in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your initial mount is a free gift! After completing the second major battle, "Test Of Zheng Fei," in Chapter 1, locate a merchant in the overworld. He'll be northeast of Wan Castle, before reaching the camp, near his horse. Speak to him to receive your first horse, automatically equipped.
Summon your horse by pressing down on the left joystick (console) or V (keyboard).
Leveling Up Your Steed in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your horse gains experience points (XP) based on completed missions, even if unused during the mission itself. Note that Skirmishes don't award XP. Missions, indicated by a red diamond with a soldier icon, provide moderate-length battles for XP gain. The XP earned depends on battle duration, your riding time, and enemy charges. Leveling up unlocks unique buffs for each horse.
Switching Mounts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your starting horse is automatically equipped, but more are available. Access the Battle Preparation menu; the mount selection is the last option on the left. Each horse possesses unique advantages; some are faster or more capable. Maximize a region's peace level to unlock new horses as rewards at nearby waypoints.
